Noted For: psychologist; after experimenting with hallucinogenic mushrooms in a Mexican religious ceremony (1960), became an advocate of hallucinogenics, especially LSD. Imprisoned for marijuana possession (1970), escaped and fled to Switzerland (1971), arrested enroute to Afghanistan (1973), and returned to prison in the U.S. Released in 1976.
